This tour combines some of the best golf courses in Portugal and Spain, superb sightseeing and entertainment including flamenco in Spain, maybe fado music & bullfighting in Portugal. Tuesday 7th Aug: Depart Bangkok 12:05am arrive Madrid 8:00am. Two nights Hotel Moderno. A boutique Hotel which it is in the centre of Madrid, the Purta del Sol and only 10 min walk to many tourists sites. Free day to relax and wander around the city Wednesday 8th Aug: am Golf at Campo Villa de Madrid Golf Course. Considered one of the best courses in Spain 15km from Madrid alternative (La Herreria) Thursday 9th: A 4hr drive from Madrid is Betera. A town of 20,000 people and 15km from Valencia. Our hotel is the La Calderona a spectacular 5-star Spa & Sports Club. There is a putting green & pitching area at the hotel. Dinner Friday 10th Aug: Golf at El Bosque. A Trent Jones course that will test us all. Saturday 11th Aug: Golf at Club de golf Escorpion Golf Resort opposite the hotel Sunday 12th Aug: Depart for Cartagena 3.5hrs Our Hotel is the 4* Hyatt Hotel Las Lomas Village. Take a bathing cap, these are required in the pools. Or buy there. 2 Monday 13th Aug: Golf at LaManga Golf Club Tuesday 14th Aug: Depart for Marbella 5 hrs. Our Hotel Fuerte Miramar is a typical Spanish Hotel, very clean, good food and central. We are here for three nights. Wednesday 15th Aug: Depart for Gibraltar for the day, passports required. The tour of the Rock Tunnels and massive underground caverns is worth doing. See the apes and then do a tour of the town. Return to Marbella. 1 hr drive. Dinner. Thursday 16th Aug: Golf at Marballa Golf & Country Club, a Robert Trent Jones course. Friday 17th Aug: Depart for the beautiful 12th century mountain town of Ronda. This town is an absolute gem. We stay at the Royal Hotel opposite the Bull Ring. Free day to wander around the village. Flamenco show tonight.
Saturday 18th Aug: Golf at Club de Campo de Ronda, 2 x 18 hole golf courses 12 km from Ronda. Sunday 19th Aug: Depart for Portugal, 4 hr drive to the Vila Gale Ampalius Hotel, excellent hotel on the beach at Vilamoura. Dinner included tonight. Four nights here. Monday 20th Aug: Fado, Golf at Oceanico Old Course. We will try and arrange a Fado evening (tradition, haunting, sea shanty style music) on one of the evenings. Tuesday 21 Aug: Golf at the Millenium Golf Course . Wednesday 22 Aug: Golf at Victoria Golf Course, dinner included tonight. Thursday 23 Aug: Depart for Lisbon 3hrs to the Hotel Mira Parque overlooking the Eduardo VII Park in the centre of Lisbon. Friday 24th Aug: City tour. The option of a bull fight tonight at Campo Pequina. Saturday 25th Aug: Golf at the Penha Longa. The Portugal open was held here. Sunday 26th Aug: Depart for Obidos. A walled town dating back to Roman times. We will have 3 hrs here to walk the walls, delightful shops and to have lunch. On to the Hotel Praia Del Rey Marriott. We will have dinner at the hotel, wine & beer included. Monday 27th Aug: Golf at Praia del Rey Golf Course. Another excellent course with several testing holes along the coast. For dinner we may drive to Serra del Rei 7km (good reviews for Tribeca Restaurant) or Peniche 20km away.
Tuesday 28th Aug: Sightseeing. First to see is Alcobaca with it’s magnificient Gothic Monastry, we find the tombs of King Peter I and his Mistress Ines de Castro. Our next stop is Batalha with the unfinished Monastry and on to Aveiro, Portugal’s Venice, where we stay the night. Wednesday 29th Aug: Depart for Salamanca. A university town since 1218. We stay at the Hotel Donna Brigida, Salamanca Forum Resort, 5 km from the centre of Salamanca. Dinner. Thursday 30th Aug: Golf at Campo de Golf de Salamanca 9:00am departure, from 10:00am tee times. Visit Salamanca this evening. Friday 31st Aug: Golf at Villamayor course from 9:30am tee times. Final dinner. As is becoming traditional, the winners of the team competition get a free dinner provided by the other four losing teams. Saturday 1st September: Depart for Madrid airport – or for those doing the Mediterranean Cruise, the coach goes on to Barcelona . Two nights to see Barcelona then join our cruise ship. Airfare has extra cost of $50 for those not returning directly home from Madrid. Costs and conditions: Golfer NZ $12,885-Non Golfer $11,695 share twin, plus $2625 for a single room. Not including airport taxes and fuel surcharges of $1089!!! Costs subject to currency fluctuations. Golf clubs may be extra. Do not have costs for golf carts yet, so these are to come.
