We have arranged three matches against, the Rimini Golf Club, the d’IlesBorromees Golf Club and one against the Cannes Mandelieu Golf Club on the French Riviera. Hotel rooms vary in size and sometimes in facilities. We have tried to share the variables evenly through the group over the tour.

The Canal du Midi was completed in 1687 it took 12,000 workers fifteen years to complete and connects the Mediterranean and Atlantic Ocean. An engineering masterpiece now a tranquil waterway passing through quaint villages, vineyards and farmland.

The keen golfer will have a host of challenges but the tour also caters for the non golfer with sightseeing and relaxation an integral part of the itinerary.

Tuesday 10th August. August Depart Auckland on Thai Air at 1:45pm, arrive Bangkok 9:30pm overnight airport hotel. Convenient Resort (just a bed & breakfast) meeting point 2nd floor gate 3 at information.

Wednesday 11th August. Depart Bangkok 10:20am arrive ChiangMai 1hr north of Bangkok 11:20am. Imperial MaePing Hotel, We all have suites. Free afternoonKhantok Dinner included.

Thursday 12 August. B/F Golf at Chiangmai Highlands course. Caddies.

Friday 13th August. B/F An exciting day, 40 min elephant ride through Forest mountain terrain, ride in ox cart followed by rafting down the river. Lunch included plus elephant display, kicking footballs and painting scenes with a brush held in their trunk..

Saturday 14th August. B/F Golf Alpine Chiangmai Golf Club.

Sunday 15th August. Free day do a tour or play another round. Late check out 5pm. Depart 9pm.

Monday 16th August. Arrive in Rome at 6:35am, Our coach will take us on a conducted tour with guide for the few hours before we can check in at the Appia Park Hotel. 10am check in arranged. The hotel is 5km from Rome centre, the bus stop is adjacent to hotel

Tuesday 17th August. Breakfast, Golf at the Castelgandolfo Golf Course from 9:30ama challenging Robt Trent Jones design. You can see the entire course from the club house & 1st & 10th tees. Trundlers included. Golf carts available.

Wednesday18th August. Breakfast. Free day visit the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, St Peters. Men pants below knee, ladies no bare shoulders.There is a hopon hopoff bus for around $30.

Thursday19th August. B/F.Coach to Riccione on the beautiful Adriatic, accommodation at the Concorde Hotel 4 nights, 100m from the main street and beach. Dinner included tonight.

Friday 20th August. B/F This morning we drive to Europe’s tiniest state the Republic of San Marino 750m above sea level. Napoleon could not take it and San Marino acted as a haven for Garibaldi in 1849 after his retreat from Rome. The 3 summits have a castle and two towers and there are numerous stalls and shops along the narrow streets. Return to Riccione in time to do some more sightseeing or laze on the beach or around the pool.

Saturday 21st August. Today we have a friendly competition and challenge for the Rimini v’s NZ Golf Challenge Trophy against the members of the Rimini Golf Club Tee off from 12:00 an attractive course with excellent holes. Carts available.

Sunday 22nd August: Free day.

Monday 23rd August. Liesurely departure. Visit the Ferrari Museum at Maranello 56km North of Bologna. Return to Bologna and check in at Hotel Paradise, close to the centre of Bologna and excellent restaurants. A small hotel with excellent service. Three nights.

Tuesday 24th August.Golf at Golf Club Bologna. 8:45am departure for golf from 9:30amA course that has often hosted the Italian Open

Wednesday 25th August. Golf at Modena Golf & Country Club. 1 hrs drive. Host of 50th Italian Open. Five lakes complement the design of the fairways, an enjoyable course to play.

Thursday 26th August. Coach to Stresa 4 nights Hotel Astoria, overlooking Lake Maggiore. Dinner incl.

Friday 27th August. Free Day to take a cruise on Lake Maggiore the ferry stops at the three Islands, two with Palaces and gardens that are open to the public. The third is known as Fisherman’s Island and restaurants offer the best fish from the lake. The ferry has a get on get off fare and also stops at Laveno on the opposite shores of the lake.Dinner included.

Saturday 28th August: Golf at D’Il deBorromees, a beautiful alpine setting 600m above sea level with spectacular views from Milan to Switzerland. We have a competition with the club their team is being led by stalwart of the club Sergio Ortolani. Carts available. Dinner, own arrangements. Sunday 29th August: Coach trip around the lake to Ascona in Switzerland. Farmers market at Cannobio. Dinner included.

Monday 30th August Checkout of hotel. 8:30am start. A big day driving 5 hrs to Juan Le Pins Hotel Le Grand Pavois, 3 nights. Dinner included tonight.

Tuesday 31st August. Free day, train to Monaco takes 45min. Cost about 10euro. Break the bank of Monte Carlo and pay for every ones trip. Or train to Nice 50 minutes or Cannes 5min.

Wednesday 1st September. Golf match with the Cannes-Mandelieu Golf Club, founded in 1891 by the Grand Duke Michael of Russia. The scenery is outstanding and the standard of the greens and fairways are good.

Thursday 2nd September. Coach to Carcassonne 6 hrs. dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, this is the most complete mediaeval, fortified city in existence today. Hotel Dejon de Rampartsinside the castle walls. 2 nights. There is a good array of stalls and eating-places.www.hotel-donjon.fr

Saturday 4th September: This morning we will do a tour of the castle dating back to the Gallo-Roman era, this is the most complete mediaeval, fortified city in existence today. Fifty-two watchtowers, portcullis and an extraordinary array of defences resisted the many armies that tried to storm this Camelot setting.

Saturday 4th to Saturday 11th September: Each boat to organise own food kitty according to their tastes. Not included. We will stop at the Carcassonne Supermarket en-route.We board our barge at 3pm and receive our driving instructions. As we will have 5 launches, captains will have to be selected for each one, as these are self drive. The boats are easy to drive, and insured, so everyone can have a turn, we stop each day when and where we choose. Our Golf clubs will be taken to the hotel where we stay after the cruise ends. The only space I can hire is the meeting room at the hotel for 7 days, we can also put a few suitcases there. Cost 10euro per case. La Redorte, 30km from Carcassonne is a village in the centre of the Minervois, well known for it’s wine cellars, summer fairs and sports evenings. All shops and services available. Not far away at Minerve. Homps is a larger village with all facilities. At Chateau de Ventenac the vaulted cellar for tasting and sales is a must as well as its vine and wine museum. Le Somail has several restaurants, and a shop boat where we can get croissants, bread and grocery items, if it is open!!. We should soon become expert at passing through the locks which are open from 9am to 12 noon and 1pm to 7pm. Capestang and Narbonne both have great charm with the facilities of a larger town. If we have time we will include going through the seven lock staircase to Beziers and back again on our way to Narbonne.

Saturday 11th September: Our coach takes us to Palmyra Golf Club Hotel at Le Cap d’Agde where our surplus luggage and golf clubs have been stored. The hotel is on the Cap d’Agde Golf Course and an easy walk to the village.

Sunday 12th September: Golf at Du Cap D’Agde large very varied championship course, hilly, with natural water hazards, been designed by Ronald Fream, with some long par 5 and greens jealously protected by bunkers. Carts available. Dinner at the village.

Monday 13th September: Golf at Saint Thomas. 9:56am start Set in a well-preserved area of woods, lakes and valleys. Water hazards and bunkers will test us. Carts available

Tuesday 14th September. Depart 8:30am for Beaugency and Grand hotel de l’Abbeye. Dated from 1200AD, burnt and rebuilt 1579 overlooking Loire River.www.grandhoteldelabbaye.com

Wednesday 15th September. Free day to rest and enjoy.

Thursday 16th September. Blue Green Golf de Limere, 21km from Beaugency. Beautifully designed and impeccably manicured, Limère deserves its reputation as one of the most striking championship courses in France. Winner of Teams competition gets free dinner this evening paid for by those who played golf purely for the enjoyement.

Friday 17th September. Depart for Paris Airport
