Trans-Canada Golf Tour
For an extensive tour of Canada with so many scenic and golfing highlights, this tour is hard to match. The keen golfer will have a host of challenges but the tour also caters for the non golfer with sightseeing and relaxation an integral part of the itinerary. The tour of thirty-one days includes Four Challenges Against Canadian Clubs with up to 13 rounds on some of the best courses in Canada. Friday 5 August Depart Auckland at 8:00pm arrive Vancouver 2:15pm same day. Coach to Whistler. Crystal Lodge Hotel, Whistler. Dinner.
Saturday 6 Aug Buffet Breakfast. Golf at Furry Creek, British Columbia’s most scenic golf course, tee time from 1:30pm Sunday 7 Aug Buffet Breakfast. Golf at the Nicklaus North Course, from 11:00am
Monday 8 Aug B/F, We have a prompt start after breakfast, our next major stop is Penticton in the Okanagen Valley. We will stop at Hope and visit the Othello Tunnels and enjoy a pleasant stroll through what was once the Kettle Valley Railway. This 45 min scenic walk will reveal an amazing engineering marvel. Dinner Monday 8 Wed to 10 Aug Accommodation Ramada Inn Penticton with breakfast. Tues 9 Aug B/F. Fair View Mountain have not organized anything so have changed to the Penticton Golf Club over the road from our hotel, tee off from midday. We can now walk back to our hotel and lie round the pool, walk into Penticton or stay a bit longer at the clubhouse. Wednesday 10 Aug After Breakfast we drive to Kelowna following the eastern shore of the Okanagen Lake. Stop at Quails Gate vineyards on the way. We are staying at the Best Western Inn Kelowna, 3 nights Thursday 11 Aug Golf at Predator Ridge Tee off from 12 midday, 2 tee start
Friday 12 Aug Free day or golf at Kelowna or one of the regions excellent courses. Saturday 13 Aug We say farewell to Kelowna and head for the Canadian Rockies, our coach takes us past lakes and forested country before climbing up to the town of Golden, to Lake Louise and on to Banff. Banff Park Lodge 13th - 17th Aug. Dinner incl. first night Sunday 14 Aug A great day sightseeing, we visit Lake Louise and have a lot of scenic surprises, we stop at Green Lake and enjoy the walk to the waterfall. Return to Banff. Monday 15 Aug We can relax today, the ride on the gondola to the top of Sulphur Mountain is worth doing. Tonight is men’s twilight at the Banff Springs Golf Club, another option. Tuesday 16 Aug Today we have our match against our old friends at the Banff Springs Golf Club, you can guarantee to see elk on the course as the area is part of the Banff National Park, fortunately there is a rule about animal scrapings! Wednesday 17 Aug Depart 8am for the drive to Calgary airport which takes 1.5 – 2 hrs. Our flight departs at 11:00am, we say goodbye to Alberta and Bonjour to Quebec. Our hotel is at the Hotel Manoir Victoria in Old Quebec. Dinner.
Thursday 18 Aug B/F. Depart 9:45am for St Anne for a walk up the “Grand Canyon des Chutes” . The path follows narrow ledges and crosses bridges slung over sheer cliffs, there is a 243 foot waterfall and two bridges over 180 feet above the chasm. We can stop at the Basilique Sainte-Anne de Beaupre on our return. Free evening to see Old Quebec. There are several sound and light shows, museums, and of course the Citadel and fortifications, the tour is well worth while. In the evenings it is refreshing to wander up to the boardwalk to see the entertainers, jugglers, acrobats and musicians do their thing. Friday 19 Aug B/F. Golf at “Grand Vallon Golf Club”. 1:30pm Shotgun Start Saturday 20 Aug B/F. Depart 8:45am We are now really back in the golfing mode, our coach takes us to Portneuf where we have a challenge against the Portneuf Golf Club. 9:45am first tee time After a social time with the Port Neuf members and something to eat, we drive to Montreal to the Residence Inn. Three nights. Sunday 21 Aug B/F Depart 9am for Olympic Park, we can view the planetarium, and take the lift to the top of the Olympic Stadium which gives a great view over Montreal. Alongside are the Botanical Gardens, the second largest in the world after Kew (optional). This afternoon we cross to the Ilse De Notre Dame for a pleasant walk through the park to the historic David Stewart Museum (all optional). Monday 22 Aug Free Day Tuesday 23 Aug B/F. We say au revoir to Montreal and head for Ottawa The Capital of Canada. On the way we will stop at Cloverdale links for a game, easy walking links style course. Our accommodation in Ottawa is at the Chateau Laurier, downtown, close to the Rideau Centre, the biggest shopping complex in Ottawa. For dinner we can eat at the hotel or at one of the many restaurants nearby. Two nights. Dinner will be expensive at the hotel. Wednesday 24 Aug After breakfast we bus to the Eagle Creek Golf Resort. A top course, Plenty of bunkers and water. We will have a friendly game amongst ourselves. Free evening. Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 Aug The Holiday Inn with breakfast on the waterfront. Thursday 25 Aug B/F. We have the option of doing a cruise of the Ottawa river (optional) or wandering around the Saturday Markets. Check out 12:00 then depart for Kingston. There are many historic buildings in Kingston, the original site for the Government of Canada, a local tourist booklet gives a walking tour with topical details. We will have time to do these things as we have two full days in Kingston Accommodation from Thursday 25 to Sunday 28 Aug: The Holiday Inn with breakfast on the waterfront.
Friday 26 Aug A match with the locals at Smugglers Glen, a championship course set in the rugged and beautiful Canadian Shields landscape of mature forests, tall white pines and rolling hills & valleys. Shotgun start, back nine 12:30pm. Dinner 6-9pm (not included). This will be a fun day. The Gananoque people are great company. Saturday 27 Aug Free day for optional golf or whatever. Tonight we will enjoy the “Thousand Islands Dinner Cruise” boarding at 6:00pm - 6:30 departure (included). A great night for everyone. Sunday 28 Aug Coach to Niagara Falls 28 Aug – 1st Sept. BW Cairns Croft Hotel. 6400 Lundy’s Lane Niagara Falls Ontario Ph 905 356 1161 Fax 905 356 8664. Dinner. Monday 29 Aug Action day We start off with jet boating on the Niagara River. Our 40 seater Whirlpool Jet will drive into the world famous rapids, pass through the stone-walled canyon and circle the legendary whirlpool. We are supplied with a full length rain suit, Poncho and life jacket but a change of clothes is still essential. To settle the adrenalin we will have a cup of hot chocolate, shower and change, then back to the hotel for a short rest. Mid afternoon all aboard and off to Niagara Falls for the Maid Of The Mist Cruise under the falls. We stop above the falls to watch the torrent of water roar over the brink.
Tuesday 30 Aug Golf at the Legends Battlefield Course Wednesday 31 Aug Today we golf at The Whirlpool Parks Golf Club the home of the Niagara Classic, the last stop on the Canada Pro Tour. Prize giving back at the hotel 6:30 ish. Our Teams Dinner will be held tonight. The four losing teams pay for the winners meal. Thursday 1 Sept Depart Toronto at 10:30 am, arrive Vancouver 12:30pm pm, coach & ferry to Victoria Vancouver Island. Arrive around 3:30pm. 1 – 4 Sept Strathcoma Hotel, city center. Free afternoon and evening. Friday 2 Sept Depart Hotel 11:30am , Tee time 1:00-2:48 at the magnificient Olympic View Golf Club. We will have dinner at the club’s Forresters Restaurant. (Not included)
Saturday 3 Sept Option of Golf or visit Butchart Gardens. Champions Dinner at Earls restaurant. Five teams of six players competed over 8 or 9 rounds, the four losing teams pay the winning teams meal. Sunday 4 Sept Free morning. Depart Victoria at 12:00 midday and coach to the cruise ship terminal in Vancouver for their Alaska Cruise. Check in at 3:00pm. Those returning to NZ will then be taken to the airport for their flight home.
